PILATES INSTRUCTOR TRAINING FAQ

I'M ALREADY LEVEL 2 QUALIFIED

This course is suitable for you. However, you will still need to complete the required training to bring you up to Level 3 (namely Level 2 A&P).

QUALIFIED AS PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Yes, this course is suitable. However you would be expected to attend at least 2 or 3 Pilates classes to gain experience before you attend this practical course. This can be done online and Victoria can recommend some suitable classes and teachers.

I DO NOT HOLD ANY TEACHING QUALIFICATIONS

Yes, this course is suitable, as it has been designed to help people improve their teaching ability and prepare for a career as a Pilates Teacher.

HOLD A LEVEL 3 A& P QUALIFICATION

You will need to retake the paper again if your qualification is more than 2 years old. You will not need to take it again if this qualification is less than 2 years old (evidence must be supplied).

IS THE COURSE OFFICIAL PILATES TRAINING

Yes, the course is validated by the UK awarding body YMCA Awards as a Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Pilates (Practitioner). You will be able to join CIMSPA (The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity) with this qualification.

CAN I CALL MY CLASS PILATES?

Yes you can, as you will be a fully qualified Pilates Matwork Teacher!

HOW IS THE COURSE ASSESSED?

The YMCA Awards Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Pilates (Practitioner) is assessed through  a combination of internal and external assessment:

  • Learner Achievement Record
  • Assessment Workbook
  • Multiple Choice Theory paper (external)
  • Practical examination
  • Portfolio of evidence
    WHAT IS THE CAREER PROGRESSION?

    Learners may choose further same-level qualifications, for example:

    • Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training and Instruction.
    • OPA 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training accredited by IPHM.
    • OPA 200-hour Breathwork Facilitator Training accredited by IPHM.
    • Stretch & Play Facilitator Training accredited by IPHM.
    • Specialist Pilates courses including antenatal and postnatal Pilates, large and small apparatus, comprehensive (including Reformer).

    The course starts on 25th & 26th January 2025 and runs until mid-July.
